Night Bowls Post- Christmas 08 Report

The numbers may have dropped off this season, but the enthusiasm remains, and so another successful Night Bowls Season has concluded. We played all 10 games, and had a special wind up night on March 26th. The theme was “loud” shirt night, and some of the leading Night Bowls teams had the chance to try their skills against the Club members. The Night Bowlers performed very well….too well!  My poor team didn’t win either game, although we did cause the opposition some concern.

The Winners were the winners this season, their second taste of victory, and their name has now been engraved on the Night Bowls Trophy.

All Night Bowlers are welcome to come out for a game on either Wednesday afternoon or Saturday afternoon during the winter lay-off, with the game starting at 12.30 p.m. and the dress is casual. It is however necessary to ring the Club at least an hour before to let them know your intentions. Night Bowlers are also welcome to come to fivezes at Toorak every Friday evening.

A big thank you to all those who filled out the questionnaire.  The information supplied will shape the direction of next year’s season.

Night Bowls begins again next October.

Many thanks once again to the friendly band of Toorak-Burnside members who help out on Wednesday evenings. Dennis Reid is that main man in the bar, but was ably supported by Tom Mathews, Gerry Shipley, Barry Stewart, Trevor Bairstow, Mike Dwyer, and Chris Firth.

Ian Munro again prepared the sizzling sausages, with help from Bert and Dot Heartfield, Keith Arnold, Ron Patterson, Peter Anson, Jeff Cant, and Brian Spenser.

Bob Davies was again there to help out on most nights.

Special thanks to Peter and Jan Chwalisz who always found time to sort out rinks and the organization of the bowls, and to the Club members who supported our final night- some already thanked, but also Ashley Hole, Peter Spiniello, Val Ellis, Janet Evans, Noelene Stevens, Barb Jones and Ninette Williams.

Many thanks also go to the Night Bowlers who kindly donated prizes for the raffles. Jenny’s eggs, Gail and Garry’s wine and chockies, and  Andrew, Jill, Bernie and Sue for assorted knick knacks.  Thank You!

Our number one sponsor was Rayleen Harnas, who donated the Hair Cut and Blow Dry each month. Her salon is at 473 Greenhill Rd. Tusmore.                 Support those who support the Club.

Club members also gave prizes. Many thanks to Tom Mathews, Bert and Dot Heartfield, Peter Anson, and Chris Firth.

Our raffles this season were a resounding success, thanks to the generosity of the Night Bowlers and Club members who contributed prizes.
